Award Objective/goal: An award for a UCMHS graduating senior who embodies the values of kindness, dedication, and intellect demonstrated by Matt Bierman, a member of the class of 2005.
Matthew Charles Bierman was a Magnet alum of the Class of 2005 who passed away too soon in 2016. Not one to seek the spotlight, Matt’s legacy for those who knew him in high school was of a kind, dedicated student who was equally ready to lend a helping hand or crack a joke to relieve the pressure. Matt was a high academic achiever, going on to receive both a Bachelors and Masters from the University of California, Berkeley and becoming a transportation engineer in California - but he was also dedicated to a range of interest outside the classroom, ranging from Magnet’s Robotics and French clubs to playing in the NJ Youth Orchestra and attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. While Matt’s many accomplishments speak for themselves, he is remembered by his classmates for the good-natured attitude he brought each day and his understated humor.
